Beauty of Khon Masked Dance

Beauty of Khon Masked Dance

Khon masked dance drama is a performance art depicting Ramakian, a Thai version of Ramayana, an ancient Sansakrit epic written by sage Valmiki in India (dated around 500-100 BCE)

In Khon performance, the dancers wear handcrafted masks and glittering costume while acting to the accompaniment of the poems and Thai musical instruments.

In the old days, Khon performances were only held in royal courts and masters' households. Today, they are opened for public and can be seen in National Theatre and Sala Chalermkrung Theatre in Thailand.
