Story:

The pattern design in the scarf's originally inspired from a unique tradition in "Baan Non-Salao" community in Chaiyaphum, a province in the northeastern region of Thailand where young man who wishes to become a monk has to be carried on a shaking bamboo stretcher around the village to test his determination. In Thai language, its called "Hae Nak Hode" meaning tough pre-ordain parade This tradition is widely known in Thailand and is organized annually in the beginning of May. 

The scarf is entirely handwoven from natural cotton and dyed with natural colors made from local plants in the area. For example, brown colors are made from Ebony seeds. Blues are from Indigo. Pinks are from shellac. Fermenting these colors with different types of mud would add more color tones, e.g. sand mud gives more orange tone and clay mud gives a darker tone. These natural ingredients are ground, boiled, mixed with yarn, and dried to be ready for weaving. 

Almost unrecognizable from its origin, Salao scarf gives you a chic and sophisticated look with uniquely detailed patterns. It fits in everyday look, as a meaningful gift to your loved ones or an artwork to decorate your house.
